Impact windows and doors in Fort Myers Beach, FL

Fort Myers Beach properties face direct coastal exposure while relying on windows and doors for Gulf views, balcony access, daylight, and ventilation. A useful opening-protection plan must support those daily functions and account for how the building is prepared when the owner, guest, or property manager receives a storm warning.

Storm Solutions, Inc installs impact windows and doors in Fort Myers Beach, FL for houses, condominiums, vacation rentals, and commercial properties. Our team measures each selected opening, reviews available systems, coordinates permitting for the contracted work, and sends trained company employees to complete installation.

Elevated construction, exterior stairs, upper-floor balconies, limited staging space, and association rules can all influence the project. We build the scope around the property's actual access, existing products, architectural details, and occupancy instead of applying the same package to every beach address.

Window, door, and hurricane protection services for Fort Myers Beach

Fort Myers Beach includes elevated single-family homes, condominium buildings, cottages, resorts, restaurants, retail spaces, and properties being repaired or rebuilt after major storms. Each setting creates a different combination of opening sizes, exterior access, owner responsibilities, and appearance requirements.

Storm Solutions can coordinate permanent impact products with deployable protection in one organized scope. That flexibility matters when a building has standard bedroom windows, a wall of balcony glass, an entry exposed to wind-driven rain, and an outdoor area that needs coverage without permanently closing the view.

Owners replacing damaged or outdated units can begin with our complete window collection and compare operating styles, frame profiles, glass choices, and energy features for the measured openings.

When existing glass will remain, the product brochure library can help owners compare attached, removable, and flexible protection for eligible windows, doors, patios, and other exterior areas.

Hurricane impact windows

Impact-rated windows provide permanent protection without requiring a caretaker or guest to install a covering over every pane. We help Fort Myers Beach owners compare operation, sightlines, laminated glass, frame finish, design pressures, and approval details before a custom order is released.

Impact-resistant exterior doors

An exterior door must resist the conditions specified for the opening while remaining dependable for everyday entry. We evaluate the frame, threshold, swing, hardware, wall connection, landing, and clearance so the complete door system suits both the building and its normal traffic.

Learn More

Fiberglass entry doors

Fiberglass doors can bring a finished residential appearance to an elevated entry, covered porch, or street-facing facade. Available glass and finish combinations allow owners to coordinate the entrance with surrounding windows while accounting for exposure and required impact performance.

Learn More

Sliding glass doors

Sliding glass doors frequently connect Fort Myers Beach living areas with decks, balconies, and Gulf-facing outdoor space. Replacement planning considers panel size, stacking direction, sill and floor transitions, drainage, screens, structural conditions, and the route used to bring large components into the property.

Learn More

French doors

French doors offer paired hinged access for balconies, porches, courtyards, and commercial entries. We review wind exposure, active and inactive panels, astragals, locking points, swing clearance, and nearby railings or furnishings before specifying the assembly.

Learn More

Pivot entry doors

Pivot entrances can complement a newly rebuilt or contemporary beach property with a broad opening and distinctive movement. Their scale places extra importance on accurate dimensions, pivot location, floor clearance, hardware, and the approved product configuration.

Learn More

Bifold doors

Bifold systems move several panels aside to create a generous transition toward a deck or covered outdoor area. Storm Solutions examines the full span, head and sill conditions, panel storage, traffic path, weather exposure, and structural support before discussing this option.

Learn More

Hurricane shutters for Fort Myers Beach

Shutters protect suitable existing openings without requiring full window or door replacement. The correct style depends on mounting conditions, opening height, safe access, storage, association standards, and who will close the property when the owner is away.

Learn More

Roll-down shutters

Roll-down shutters remain housed above the opening and lower along permanent side tracks. Manual or motorized configurations can reduce storm-day setup for frequently used balcony doors, windows, and qualifying wider spans where fast closure is a priority.

Learn More

Accordion shutters

Accordion shutters fold beside the opening between uses and close manually across installed tracks. They eliminate separate panel storage, but the layout must leave enough room for the stacked blades, handles, locks, and full travel path.

Learn More

Hurricane panels

Removable steel, aluminum, and clear polycarbonate panels can cover assigned openings when severe weather approaches. A workable beach-property system includes readable labels, accessible hardware, dry storage, and a deployment plan that does not depend on unsafe ladder use.

Learn More

Bahama shutters

Bahama shutters add shade and a recognizable coastal profile to individual windows throughout the year. Each unit must have the correct width, height, projection, supports, anchors, and closure hardware for the approved application.

Learn More

Hurricane screens

Hurricane screens can protect approved lanais, balconies, patios, and larger openings with a flexible barrier. Atlas Armor and Ultrashield systems are available for suitable projects, with operation, anchorage, side clearances, and motorization reviewed during selection.

Learn More

Interior window coverings

Interior shades and coverings help manage privacy, bright reflected light, and solar exposure in rooms facing the beach or bay. They can be coordinated after the exterior window details are known so dimensions and operation do not conflict.

Learn More

Custom glass and mirrors

Custom glass can complete bathrooms, rental-unit renovations, mirrors, and select enclosed living areas beyond the exterior protection scope. Our in-house designers develop each piece around field measurements, hardware, room use, and the intended visual result.

Learn More

Complete door collection

The complete door line brings entry, patio, sliding, folding, and architectural options together for comparison. Fort Myers Beach owners can also visit the showroom to examine frame proportions, finishes, hardware, glass, and full-size operation before choosing.

Why Fort Myers Beach property owners choose Storm Solutions

Coastal window and door projects involve more than selecting a product from a catalog. Measurements, access, building documents, association requirements, installation details, and final operation all need to remain connected from the first visit through completion.

Company employees complete the installation

Storm Solutions uses factory-authorized installers who work directly for the company. The field crew is not handed off to a subcontractor, which preserves a clear line of responsibility when an elevated opening, occupied rental, or condominium schedule requires careful coordination.

The scope reflects how the beach property is used

We ask who occupies the building, who prepares it for storms, how guests reach balconies, and which views or access points matter most. Those answers help shape a practical mix of impact products, attached shutters, panels, or screens instead of a generic opening count.

Written coverage supports the completed work

Eligible windows and doors include a 20-year factory warranty, while Storm Solutions provides a separate five-year installation warranty. Coverage is tied to the selected products and written terms, which we review as part of the project documentation.

Planning protection for an exposed barrier-island property

Fort Myers Beach occupies a narrow barrier-island setting where homes and businesses are closely connected to the Gulf, bay, canals, and elevated outdoor areas. Windows and doors often provide the property's defining views, but their placement can also make measurement, material handling, and future maintenance more complex.

Many buildings raise occupied floors above grade and reach them through exterior stairs, enclosed entries, or elevator lobbies. Large windows and doors may need to travel through constrained routes or be accessed from balconies rather than open ground. Installation planning should identify those conditions before fabrication and scheduling.

Condominiums add another layer of responsibility. Exterior frames, colors, visible shutter housings, balcony work, contractor access, elevator protection, and work hours may be governed by the association. The Town also identifies association approval as part of qualifying exterior window, door, and shutter work, so owners should resolve private approvals early.

Short-term rentals and seasonal occupancy change storm preparation. An impact window remains ready when no owner is present, while a shutter system needs an assigned operator with access to keys, controls, cranks, or stored panels. Instructions should be clear enough for a property manager to secure the correct openings without guesswork.

Salt, sand, sun, moisture, and wind-driven residue can collect on tracks, fasteners, locks, frames, and drainage paths. Product-specific cleaning and maintenance remain important even when a system was not deployed during the season. For motorized protection, owners should also understand the applicable manual or power-loss procedure.

Fort Myers Beach maintains a dedicated shutter, window, and door permit path and requires product approval or NOA information for applicable work. Storm Solutions coordinates permitting for the installation in its contract, but impact ratings do not address storm surge. Flood risk, evacuation, utilities, and opening protection must remain separate parts of the property's resilience plan.

We bought hurricane screens from Storm Solutions. Start to finish, sales consultation through installation, the process was smooth and easy. We were assigned a project coordinator who kept us informed of progress (order status, delivery of product, permit status, etc.) and worked with us to schedule at our convenience. The salesman went above and beyond in answering our many questions and providing product documentation. The coordinator went above and beyond in scheduling and communicating. We were out of state during the installation and had a relative go to the house when needed, so it was important to know timing. The installers worked very hard and diligently through the extremely hot and humid weather. They were there on time and were professional. They left the job clean and tidy, as if they were never there. The hurricane screens themselves do not disappoint and we feel we paid a fair price for them. We would highly recommend Storm Solutions to anyone looking for hurricane screens, and for any other of their products because of the wonderful service they provided.

My wife and I are very pleased with the work provided by Storm Solutions in Fort Myers. We decided to have them install impact windows to our home. Seven years ago they installed a new custom French patio door, and then we received an outstanding service as well. Olaf Michaelsen, the sale representative, is knowledgeable, pleasant to speak with. He takes pride to educate you about the options and he never oversell and over explain anything. The impact windows is a big investment, we interview 3 other companies and at the end we were pleased with the work of Storm Solutions team.

Fort Myers Beach window, door, and shutter questions

Elevated construction, condominium rules, rental turnover, limited access, and direct coastal exposure make every Fort Myers Beach project different. These answers address the planning questions that commonly arise before measurements and product selection.

Are impact windows or shutters better for an elevated beach home?

Impact windows eliminate the need to reach each opening before a storm, which can be valuable on upper occupied floors. Shutters may protect suitable existing windows without replacing them and can work well when attached operation is accessible.

The right choice depends on window condition, building access, budget, appearance, storage, and the person responsible for preparation. Many elevated homes use both methods on different openings.

Does replacing windows during a Fort Myers Beach rebuild require separate documentation?

Replacement windows and doors generally require the Town's shutter, window, or door permit path along with product approvals or NOAs and design-pressure information. Changes in opening size or construction can create a different review scope from a size-for-size replacement.

Storm Solutions coordinates documents for its contracted installation. The owner and design team should identify any larger reconstruction, floodplain, structural, or association requirements that extend beyond that scope.

What should condominium owners confirm before ordering?

Ask whether windows, doors, balcony components, and exterior shutters are unit property or common elements. Confirm approved frame colors, product standards, visible housings, contractor access, elevator reservations, work hours, and insurance-document requirements.

Written association approval should be obtained before fabrication. A Town permit does not replace the condominium's private authorization process.

How can a vacation rental be prepared when guests are present?

Choose protection that a designated manager can operate and document the steps for every opening. Attached shutters need accessible controls, keys, or cranks, while removable panels require labels, hardware, storage, and a safe installation sequence.

The rental plan should also address guest communication, balcony items, access restrictions, alarms, evacuation instructions, and who verifies that the building has been closed correctly.

How does salt and sand exposure affect maintenance?

Residue can build up on tracks, frames, locks, fasteners, rollers, hinges, and drainage openings. Cleaning should follow the manufacturer's instructions, and unapproved lubricants or pressure-washing methods should not be used on sensitive components.

Operate shutters and doors periodically so binding or corrosion is discovered before storm preparation becomes urgent. Maintenance frequency depends on the exact system and exposure at the property.

Can Storm Solutions work on upper-floor balcony openings?

Upper-floor work may be possible, but access must be evaluated at the site. Balcony depth, railings, adjacent units, equipment routes, building rules, and the ability to handle large products all affect the installation plan.

Condominium management or an owner may need to coordinate common-area protection and access. The estimate should reflect those logistics before work is scheduled.

Can a large Gulf-facing slider be replaced with impact glass?

Impact-rated sliding systems are available in multiple configurations, but the existing opening must be measured and matched to an approved product. Panel size, meeting rails, sill, drainage, floor transition, structural conditions, and stacking direction all influence selection.

The view is important, but so is daily operation. We compare sightlines and glass with how occupants move between the interior and the balcony or deck.

Do impact windows and shutters protect against storm surge?

No. These products address windborne debris and pressure within their tested and approved conditions. They do not make an elevated or ground-level building floodproof and should not be treated as a reason to ignore an evacuation order.

Property owners still need separate plans for flooding, utilities, vehicles, outdoor items, insurance records, and reentry after a storm.

Can one property combine impact products, shutters, panels, and screens?

Yes. A permanent impact window may suit an inaccessible bedroom, a roll-down shutter may simplify a balcony door, panels may cover reachable secondary openings, and a screen may be appropriate for an approved wider area.

The project should document every opening and its assigned system. That inventory helps owners and managers understand which protection is always active and which products require deployment.
